Refuge to Host Alex Johnson & Joe Kinder Slideshows!

Refuge Climbing & Fitness is excited to be hosting two slideshows on Friday, November 14 at 7pm featuring accomplished climbers Alex Johnson and Joe Kinder. The slideshows are part of the first annual Southern Nevada Climbing Festival, a membership drive and fundraiser for the Las Vegas Climbers Liaison Council (LVCLC) and the Access Fund. Admission to the 3-day festival is available by purchasing a joint membership with the LVCLC and the Access Fund for as little as $35 ($40 at the door), and includes entry to both slideshows (with FREE food & beverages), a T-shirt and stainless steel mug. Kids age 17 and under and one parent can attend the slideshows for free, though a donation to the LVCLC is encouraged.

Alex Johnson

Alex Johnson is a two-time World Cup Gold Medalist and five-time National Champion. She's earned multiple first female ascents including V12s like Clear Blue Skies in Colorado, The Mandala in Bishop, and Book of Nightmares and Lethal Design in Red Rocks.

Alex is a travel enthusiast and her climbing has taken her to many destinations worldwide. She will be sharing stories of some of her most memorable adventures, highlighting visits to Europe and South America, and what lead her to become a Las Vegas local.

Joe Kinder

Joe Kinder is known for his outrageous personality and infinite psyche.  He has climbed and bouldered extensively throughout North America and Europe, repeating several of the world's hardest test-pieces and establishing many new routes up to 5.14+ in difficulty. Joe will be presenting a photo/video presentation on some of his more recent adventures climbing in Spain, Norway and our home areas here in the southwestern desert. His presentation will touch on the inspiring nature of new route development, staying motivated, fostering a sense of community and living a free-spirited lifestyle.
